Newsletters are a cornerstone of every online marketer’s toolbox as they happen to be one of the most cost effective marketing channels. The benefits of an established newsletter can be significant for any business as it allows you to reach a wider and more engaged audience. It’s no wonder that every company from Facebook to your local pizzeria has kicked off an email marketing program. As Executive Director of Orlando Tech, I’m obsessed with figuring out how to grow our reach through our newsletters and amplify our message. We grew our newsletter from 0 subscribers to over 3,000 in a few short months, and I want to share some of the tools that made that possible. I’m assuming you’re already pumping out amazing content and have lead generation forms sprinkled all over your lovely website. With that in mind, I’m going to stay away from the more obvious ways to grow your subscribers and instead give you 3 tools to dominate your newsletter growth.

Thank you Orrett for sharing these tools! It was most helpful.
I have a query regarding automatically adding email contacts that you reply to, to the newsletter list. While it seems like a great idea to do this, I was concerned about adding contacts who have not opted in to our list and anti-spam rules. Please advise if this is acceptable?
Mark Bunker says
Sulakshna, I think it really depends on the type of emails you receive and the product you are selling. I believe most of the emails Orrett is referring to are from people inquiring about how to present at or get involved with the Orlando Tech Association. Opting them into the newsletter is providing them the information they are seeking on a weekly basis.
Please tune into his webinar to find out more details :)

Wow hardcore violation of the CAN-SPAM legislation. Way to go if you want all your mail to land in spam.
Orrett Davis says
Jon, The last thing we’d want is for one of our newsletters to be marked as spam. In our case, this zap is enabled for people that have expressed interested in volunteering or attending events we host. We have double-optin enabled by default on our newsletters signup forms. Zapiers integration with Mailchimp allows you to do double-optin as well.
